BOONE, N.C. — App State inside linebacker D'Marco Jackson has been named the National Defensive MVP of the Week by PFF College and the Sun Belt Conference's Defensive Player of the Week following a strong, versatile effort in the 17-13 win against Georgia State.
A junior from Spartanburg, S.C., Jackson had nine tackles, one sack, two tackles for loss, two pass breakups, one fumble recovery and one quarterback hurry as the Mountaineers held the Panthers nearly 24 points below their season scoring average.
Of Jackson's nine stops, six of the plays resulted in a loss or no gain, highlighted by a sack for a 9-yard loss in the second quarter.
