ELON, N.C. — True freshman Bobby Hampton allowed just two hits over seven scoreless innings to lead Appalachian State University baseball to a 4-0 win over Stony Brook on Friday afternoon in the first game of the Elon Tournament at Latham Park.
Making the third start of his career, Hampton (1-1) surrendered only a bloop double in the first inning and an infield single in the third. The southpaw struck out four, walked two and needed only 93 pitches to cruise through seven innings. The southpaw retired 15 of the last 17 hitters that he faced, only allowing a pair of walks over his final four innings of work.
