BOONE, N.C. – For the third time in the last two years, an App State alum was selected in the NFL Draft.
The Green Bay Packers took Shemar Jean-Charles in the fifth round (No. 178 overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft on Saturday. The Mountaineers' All-America cornerback was the first Sun Belt Conference player selected in this year's draft, and it represented the culmination of a remarkable college career for the Miramar, Fla., native.
After signing with App State as a two-star recruit, he sat behind all-conference cornerbacks Clifton Duck and Tae Hayes before becoming a starter in 2019 – his fourth year with the program.
