BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State inside linebacker Anthony Flory has been named the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week following a nine-tackle, two-sack performance in the Mountaineers' 20-13 win at Texas State on Saturday.
Flory had a sack for an 8-yard loss on Texas State's second drive and another sack later in the game. He also was credited with two quarterback hurries.
A junior from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Flory established a new career high for tackles as the Mountaineers held the Bobcats to six points on two field goals in four trips inside the red zone.
