CONWAY, S.C. – A record-setting save and a dramatic finish headlined the Mountaineers 1-1 draw against Coastal Carolina, Wednesday, culminating with App State earning a point on the road in Sun Belt play.
Despite trailing for the majority of the match, the Mountaineers pressed on the accelerator late in regulation, creating turnovers with their pressure, and ultimately after several close calls, tying the game with seven minutes to play.
Kerry Eagleston made just one save in the game, but it would be a memorable one for the fifth-year starter from Winston-Salem. In the 37th minute the graduate student dropped to one knee and scooped a rolling shot against her chest for her 376th career save, the most by a goalkeeper in App State program history.
