BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State second baseman Luke Drumheller has received another prestigious national accolade.
Drumheller, who hit .337 with a team-leading 37 RBIs and 15 doubles in his first college season, was named to the 2019 Collegiate Baseball Freshmen All-American Team on Wednesday.
Drumheller is the fifth App State player to be a Freshman All-American, joining Hector Crespo (2010), Jamie Nunn (2012), Jaylin Davis (2013) and Tanner Mann-Fix (2016). Collegiate Baseball's 2019 team, powered by Diamond, included two other Sun Belt Conference players.
A left-handed-hitting freshman from Olympic High School in Charlotte, Drumheller started in 50 of his 51 appearances, had 21 multi-hit games and earned an invitation to play this summer for the Wareham (Mass.
