BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State’s Walter Brinker (Sanford, N.C.) aced the par-3, 242-yard 18th in the opening round to lift Appalachian State to a tie for ninth through two rounds against the 16-team field at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate, which began Saturday at the The Club at Irish Creek.
Brinker’s ace highlighted his opening round 72 (+1) to set the stage for a strong day for the Mountaineers. App State opened the day with a 291 (+7) and closed with an impressive 282 (-2) to tie for ninth after two round.
