BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University baseball's comeback attempt in Game One fell just shy to start of the doubleheader against South Alabama on Saturday afternoon at Smith Stadium.
On a day that saw 43 runs and 67 hits between two games, it featured wild contests from the Mountaineers (19-31, 8-18 Sun Belt) and Jaguars (33-18, 19-7 Sun Belt).

Calev Grubbs and Matt Vernon helped lead a rally attempt as Appalachian fought back from a five-run deficit to tie up the game in the seventh.
