Barbosa’s Brace Helps Mountaineers to Win in Home Opener

BOONE, N.C. – Less than 30 seconds into the second half, Stephanie Barbosa swiped the ball from a George Mason defender, and promptly parked it past the Patriots' keeper for her second goal of the match, propelling App State to a 3-0 win Sunday at The Valley.

App State dominated from whistle to whistle, out-shooting George Mason 21-4 and earned eight corner kicks in the match.

The Mountaineers first goal came off a beautiful passing combination in the 11th minute of play. Shannon Studer dribbled the ball down the left sideline and fed a pass towards the goalmouth, where Sarah Widderich redirected the ball to Barbosa for the finish.
