BLACKSBURG, Va. — Appalachian State University wrestling competed in its first tournament of the season on Sunday at the Hokie Open. The Mountaineers placed four wrestlers in the top four of their weight classes.
The tournament featured two difference brackets, a freshman and sophomore division and an open division.
The Mountaineers were led by freshman Colby Smith who won out the freshman and sophomore division at 133 pounds. Sophomore Matt Zovistoski took home second place at 149 pounds, senior Vito Pasone finished third at the 125-pound weight class, while junior Forrest Przybysz placed fourth at 165 pounds.
