BOONE, N.C. – The Appalachian State University softball team has accepted an invitation to compete in the National Invitational Softball Championship. The tournament is the first postseason appearance for the Mountaineers in program history.
The announcement follows an already historic season for Appalachian. The Mountaineers put together their second 30-win season in program history while ending the regular season 31-22 and 13-13 in the Sun Belt Conference. They also managed their first appearance in the Sun Belt Softball Championship in App State history securing the number five seed in the tournament.
The Apps started the season 1-0 for the first time since 2013, the year they won the Southern Conference regular season.
