MT. HOLLY, N.C. – With over 30 years of service to the city of Mount Holly, App State men's basketball alum Danny Jackson has been awarded The Order of the Long Leaf Pine.
Jackson was presented with the prestigious award on Monday evening by former Mountaineer head coach Bobby Cremins.
Jackson played for two seasons at App State from 1978-80. He appeared in 57 career games, averaging 3.7 points and 2.5 rebounds, helping the Mountaineers capture the Southern Conference Tournament title in 1979 and punching the program's first ticket to the NCAA Tournament.
Among the honors and awards the Governor of North Carolina can bestow, none is more valued than The Order of the Long Leaf Pine.
