BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University field hockey stumbled to the Lock Haven Bald Eagles 3-0 Friday night at the Brandon & Erica M. Adcock Field under a constant rainfall.
Both teams were slipping and sliding all around the pitch, but the pouring rain did not stop the hockey squads from playing a competitive match.
The majority of the first period was played at midfield with little attacks at the net. Lock Haven (7-4, 3-2 A-10) only delivered eight shots, and the Mountaineers (1-10) were right behind them administering seven towards the goal. Despite the lack of offensive plays, the Bald Eagles were able to connect two of their five shots on target to take the 2-0 lead at the half.
