BOONE, N.C. – For the first time since Feb. 18, 2023, the App State Mountaineers dropped a home contest, falling 77-63 to the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks in the first leg of the MAC-SBC Challenge. It's the first time since 2013 that the Mountaineers have lost their home opener.
Despite the result, eight different Mountaineers found the basket with Myles Tate leading all scorers, dropping in 21 points. In his first collegiate contest, Michael Marcus Jr. tallied nine points on a perfect 3-3 from the field, while Jackson Threadgill also tallied nine in his first game with the Mountaineers.
