BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State is tapping into the well of tradition, with a slight wrinkle, for the highly anticipated Georgia Southern football matchup this coming Halloween night in Boone.
The nationally televised contest (ESPNU) between the Mountaineers and Eagles will be featured as App State's "Black Thursday" game in the tradition of the Black Saturday contests that have been a highlight of the football schedule since the 1980s. All fans will be encouraged to wear their favorite black App gear to the game.
The Nov. 23 game against Texas State will be Heroes Day on the Appalachian campus, recognizing military personnel, first responders and veterans with free admission to the game.
