BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State Athletics continues to prove that Mountaineer student-athletes succeed in the classroom. Forty-three App State student-athletes who graduated within the past year earned the title of "scholar-athlete" by graduating with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Amidst the weekend's Homecoming festivities, 25 of the 43 scholar-athletes were recognized on the football field before kickoff of the win against South Alabama. During this special ring ceremony, App State student-athletes shook the hands of several special guests, including Chancellor Sheri Everts and Director of Athletics Doug Gillin.
In addition to the recognition of these high-achieving student-athletes, Sarah Peatross was announced as the winner of the Brakefield Academic Award.
