Videos of Gardena police shooting of unarmed men are made public

A federal judge on Tuesday ordered the release of videos that show Gardena police officers fatally shooting an unarmed man.

U.S. District Judge Stephen V. Wilson's decision came a day after he said there was a clear public interest in releasing the footage and that records could only be kept under seal in federal court in extreme cases.

Wilson rejected arguments by the city of Gardena seeking to keep the recordings under seal. The judge on Monday questioned how the city could argue that the shooting was proper while at the same time agreeing to a $4.
