At the 2017 NHL Award Show in Las Vegas, the Golden Knights announced that they had selected defenseman Clayton Stoner from the Anaheim Ducks as part of the Expansion Draft.
Stoner is headed into the final year of a 4-year contract at a cap hit of $3.25 million. The 32-year-old stay-at-home defenseman played in 133 regular season games and 31 playoff games for the Ducks. He contributed 17 points in the regular season (3G, 14A) and 5 points (2G, 3A) in the playoffs.
Perhaps the bigger annoucnement is that Vegas has also acquired Shea Theodore, presumed to be in order for them to not select either Josh Manson or Sami Vatanen who were left exposed by the Ducks.
