The Anaheim Ducks shouldn’t walk away from Brandon Pirri

The Anaheim Ducks extended qualifying offers to a few restricted free agents on Monday and there was one notable omission: Brandon Pirri.

The 25-year-old put up five points in nine games with the Ducks after being acquired at the deadline for a 6th round draft pick.

While the Ducks could still re-sign him prior to July 1st it seems unlikely at best.

Letting him go wouldn’t be a good idea, though.

In 159 games since becoming an NHL regular in 2013-14 Pirri has scored 49 goals and recorded 78 points. Those numbers don’t jump off the page at first glance but that averages out to be 25 goals and 40 points per 82 games.
