Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet is reporting that the Anaheim Ducks have place Simon Despres on waivers for the purpose of buying out his contract.
While the Ducks did not officially specify a buyout, the official statement from General Manager Bob Murray confirms that the organization will be parting ways with Despres.
“Simon Despres is a good hockey player and a good person.” Murray said. “But at this point in time, we feel it is in the best interests of both Simon and the organization to part ways. We wish him the very best in the future.
