Marches, gospel tunes, cakewalks and great piano music come together when “Ragtime — The Musical” goes on tour and stops at Reynolds Hall at the Smith Center for the Performing Arts from Oct. 27-Nov. 1.
The musical that won two Tony Awards for best book and best musical score takes place at the turn of the century, telling the tale of three New York City families from different worlds that intertwine throughout the show. Celebrities of the era such as Harry Houdini, Henry Ford and J.P. Morgan all make an appearance.
The show’s score includes songs such as “Wheels of a Dream,” “Back to Before” and the title song, “Ragtime.
