About 70 customers remained without power in Long Beach on Saturday morning after a fire in an underground electrical vault shut down service to 30,000 residents on Thursday.
The outage, which affected a huge swath of downtown, has now been confined to Southern California Edison customers in the immediate vicinity of the vault damaged by the fire, near 10th Street and Pine Avenue.
Edison officials expect to have power restored to all customers by Saturday afternoon.
Water, ice, flashlights and snacks are available for people without power at the Jenny Oropeza Community Center in Cesar Chavez Park, according to a city news release Saturday morning.
