Michael Phelps, relegated to a second-tier swim meet this week because of multiple drunk-driving arrests, has vowed to steer clear of alcohol -- at least until after the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
After his second DUI last fall, U.S. officials excluded him from the squad competing at the world championships in Russia. Instead, he has entered a national meet in San Antonio.
"Before I even went to court, I said to myself that I'm not going to drink until after Rio -- if I ever drink again," he told the Associated Press. "That was a decision I made for myself.
