Max Scherzer throws no-hitter for Washington Nationals

Washington Nationals ace Max Scherzer threw baseball's second no-hitter of the season in a 6-0 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday.

Scherzer's bid for a perfect game was spoiled with two outs in the ninth when he hit Pittsburgh Pirates pinch hitter Jose Tabata with a 2-2 pitch. Tabata appeared to slightly lean in on the pitch that broke up the perfect game. Josh Harrison then flied out to left field on the next at-bat to end the game.

Scherzer threw 106 pitches, including 82 strikes, to secure his first-career no-hitter. The game lasted only 2 hours and 21 minutes.
