Travelers flying into Los Angeles International Airport may soon be able to call an Uber or Lyft after they land.
Airport officials will weigh a proposal at a meeting Thursday that would allow ride-hailing services to legally pick up passengers. The decision would make Los Angeles the biggest city in the United States to allow Uber and Lyft to operate at the airport.
It would also add a new wrinkle to the battle between the Silicon Valley startups and L.A.'s 2,361 licensed taxis, many of whom see LAX as their last remaining stronghold as ride-hailing eats away at their fares.
