LAPD: Man shot by police grabbed officer's Taser during struggle

Los Angeles police shot a man who they say attacked officers with a skateboard in the Mid-Wilshire area Thursday morning, but a neighbor said he saw police shoot the man in the back.

The man, who wasn’t immediately identified, was shot once in the upper torso, Los Angeles police said. He was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

Officers with LAPD’s Wilshire Division responded about 8:40 a.m. to a report of a man disturbing the peace in the 800 block of South Sycamore Avenue, Los Angeles police Officer Tony Im.

The caller reported a person smashing car windows near Wilshire Boulevard and La Brea Avenue with a skateboard, said LAPD Cmdr.
