Jordan Clarkson won't play for Philippines in FIBA Asia Championship

Despite efforts by Jordan Clarkson and the Lakers, the team's second-year guard will not play for the Philippine national team this month in the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship.

According to a statement released on the Philippine Basketball Assn.'s website, the team "was not able to beat the deadline to secure the necessary clearances on time."

Clarkson might have been eligible to play in three early tournament games, but with the Lakers scheduled to hold their annual media day on Sept. 28 before flying to Hawaii for training camp, his NBA obligation took precedence.
