Iran, world powers agree on nuclear deal

Diplomats from Iran, the U.S. and five other world powers have reached agreement on a landmark deal to curb Iran’s nuclear program, officials in Vienna said Tuesday, with a formal announcement scheduled to come in a few hours.

The agreement brings to a close after nearly two years of diplomacy, capped by a final intense round of bargaining which lasted late into Monday night.

The agreement is designed to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon for at least a decade. Under its terms, Iran will accept a series of restrictions on its nuclear activities and allow inspection of known and suspected nuclear sites.
