Guatemalans headed to the polls Sunday to elect a new leader after a week of political turmoil that toppled the country’s president in a corruption scandal.
Some 7.5 million voters are eligible to cast their ballots in what many think will be an inconclusive race that will go to a second round of voting in late October. No candidate is expected to win more than 50% of the vote, which is what is needed to win outright.
