Former first-round pick Chris Reed was removed from the Dodgers' 40-man roster Friday, as he was designated for assignment.
The move was made to create a place on the roster for minor league right-hander Preston Guilmet, who was claimed off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays, the former team of Dodgers President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman.
Reed was the 16th overall selection in the 2011 draft. He pitched at Cleveland High in Reseda, as well as at Stanford University.
A 25-year-old left-hander, Reed is yet to pitch in the major leagues.
