All but one eastbound lane of the 10 Freeway in Mid-City was closed early Monday by a fatal traffic collision involving three cars, the California Highway Patrol said.
Only the collector road at La Brea Avenue, which serves as a through street and an on- and offramp, and the far left lane were open as of 5:45 a.m., the CHP said. There was no estimate on when the remaining lanes would be reopened.
The three-car crash occurred about 3:45 a.m, according to the CHP’s dispatch log. Witnesses reported seeing flames climbing out of one car’s engine block and an injured man standing on the side of the road.
