French air accident experts on Wednesday began examining the wing debris thought to be part of missing Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370.
A part known as a flaperon, already identified as coming from a Boeing 777, was found on a beach on the French Indian Ocean island of Reunion a week ago. The six-foot-long piece of metal is covered with marine crustaceans, which may solve the mystery of what happened to the aircraft that disappeared in March 2014 one hour after taking off from Kuala Lumpur en route to Beijing with 239 people aboard.
Passengers' families have been in limbo for 17 months.
