Dylann Roof faces three new attempted-murder charges after a grand jury indicted him Tuesday on suspicion of carrying out the June 17 massacre at a historic black church in Charleston, S.C.
Roof, 21, a suspected white supremacist, had already been charged with nine counts of murder and one weapons charge in the killing of nine parishioners at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church.
"These attempted murder charges are related to the victims who survived their attack at Mother Emanuel," the local prosecutor, Ninth Circuit Solicitor Scarlett A.
