Left-hander Paco Rodriguez will undergo arthroscopic surgery Thursday to remove loose debris from the back of his throwing elbow, the Dodgers announced.
Rodriguez will be sidelined eight to 10 weeks.
“Disappointing for us and for him, obviously,” Manager Don Mattingly said.
Rodriguez has been on the disabled list since May 30. He has pitched in 10 games for the Dodgers this season, posting a 2.61 earned-run average.
Rodriguez recently pitched in four minor league games as part of a rehabilitation assignment.
He experienced discomfort in his last game, which was on Tuesday.
“It was kind of back to those same feelings of not being able to let it go,” Mattingly said.
