Deadly weather bring extreme heat, intense rain, lightning to Southern California

Southern California was hit by another day of high heat, powerful thunderstorms and flash floods after violent weather left one man dead Tuesday in a flash flood, the National Weather Service said.

On Wednesday, the hot conditions helped spark a small brush fire in Malibu, which was quickly brought under control by firefighters.

Meanwhile, new flash flood warning were issued for some high desert areas through the afternoon.

Periods of intense downpours hit parts of the Antelope Valley and other high desert areas, causing flooding in some areas. In Aqua Dolce, a mudslide was reported.
