Beverly Hills police catch man in Mexico wanted in 1983 slaying

After more than 30 years on the lam, a man accused of killing his estranged wife’s male companion with his car in Beverly Hills has been found in Mexico and arrested, police said Thursday.

Juan Jesus Flores, 67, is being held without bail in Los Angeles County jail on suspicion of killing Robert Garver in 1983.

Beverly Hills police say that on April 3, 1983, Flores, his daughter, his estranged wife and her friend, Garver, were at Roxbury Park for a joint visitation when Flores and Garver got into some kind of confrontation.

Police would not say what the confrontation was about, but it ended with Flores getting behind the wheel of his car and hitting Garver with it.
