College baseball recruiters are landing young players in Southern California. The latest two sophomores to make commitments are shortstop JT Schwartz from Corona del Mar and outfielder Grant Burton from Santa Ana Mater Dei.
Schwartz committed to UCLA. Burton committed to Stanford.
Schwartz batted .380 while leading Corona del Mar in hits and RBIs as a freshman.
Burton batted .305. He had three hits in the Monarchs' Division 1 playoff loss to Harvard-Westlake as a freshman.
Vista Murrieta senior pitcher Chance Hroch committed to New Mexico State.
Shortstop Kai Gomez, a recent San Fernando graduate, decided he will attend Baylor.
