Arizona crowd welcomes Donald Trump's tough stance on immigration

He's called Mexican immigrants rapists and drug dealers who are demoralizing the country, while insisting simultaneously he'll win the Latino vote should he become the Republican presidential nominee.

Donald Trump's unapologetic and at times perplexing campaign was set to arrive here on Saturday for what could be a pinnacle moment as he thrusts the issue of immigration to the forefront of the 2016 campaign. Trump was set to deliver a speech on illegal immigration inside a sprawling downtown convention center hall, alongside Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, a firebrand on the issue.

The event was originally scheduled to be held at a nearby hotel, but, according to local GOP officials, demand from Trump supporters has soared in recent days, prompting the move to the larger venue to accommodate what was expected to be nearly 5,000 attendees.
