On Monday, the Anaheim Ducks traded forward Patrick Maroon to the Edmonton Oilers for Martin Gernat and a fourth round draft pick in the 2016 NHL Draft. This came as a surprise to most fans as Maroon was well liked in Anaheim and seemed to fit into a role.
The trade deadline was uneventful for most of the league until Bob Murray made some crafty roster moves right at the 3pm ET deadline. In the final thirty minutes, Murray acquired Brandon Pirri from the Florida Panthers in exchange for a 6th round pick in this year’s draft.
