The Anaheim Ducks have finally dipped their toes into the free agency pool as they’ve signed defenseman Nate Guenin to a one-year, two-way contract.
Guenin will make $600,000 if he is with the big club, which seems unlikely, while he’ll earn $250,000 if he’s playing in San Diego.
After leaving the Ducks’ organization in search of a bigger opportunity Guenin joined the Colorado Avalanche and dressed in 173 NHL games over the last three seasons.
In those games Guenin put up just 25 points and posted horrible underlying numbers as the Avalanche controlled just 42%(!) of the shot attempts with him on the ice at 5 v 5.
