TULSA, Oklahoma – Lauren Mills went 2-for-4 with a grand slam as top-seeded Wichita State advanced to the final of the American Athletic Conference Softball Championship for the first time with a 9-4 win against Tulsa Friday at the Collins Family Softball Complex.
The Shockers (38-11-1), who had earned a bye into Friday’s semifinals, will face UCF Saturday at 2 p.m. ET on ESPN2 for The American title and the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Championship. The Shockers went 3-0-1 in four regular-season meetings against the Knights in April.
Mills’ grand slam, a towering shot over the scoreboard in left-center, gave the Shockers a 9-2 lead to break open what had been a three-run lead.
