PROVIDENCE, R.I. – UCF sophomore Manuel Elvira was named the American Men's Golf Player of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.
Elvira won the FAU Slomin Autism Invitational on Sunday and tied for medalist honors with Ole Miss' Braden Thornberry and Miami (OH)'s Patrick Flavin. The sophomore made 14 birdies over the three-day event and carded a 64 in the second round, the third-best single round score in UCF program history. Elvira posted a 2-under 69 during the third and final round and finished 8-under 205 (72-64-69). He was just one of 12 in the 108 player field who finished the tournament under par.
