Tulsa Wins 2016 American Men’s Soccer Championship

TAMPA, FLA. – The American Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Championship went to overtime for the fourth consecutive year, and second-seeded Tulsa outlasted No. 1 seed USF 4-2 on PKs Sunday afternoon at Corbett Stadium to claim the conference crown for the third consecutive season. Sunday’s championship game, which was carried live on ESPN3, will air tape delayed on ESPNU at 4 p.m. ET/3 p.m. CT.

In penalty kicks, USF’s Gonzalo Rodriguez made a shot to even things up at 2-2. Zack Stavrou (Tulsa) converted a shot on the next attempt to put the Hurricane up 3-2 while the Bulls’ equalizing tally came up short on the next attempt.
