Six American Athletic Conference players find their names on the preseason watch list for the 2019 Doak Walker Award, which goes annually to the nation’s top collegiate running back.
The American’s candidates includes two players from Tulsa as Shamari Brooks and Corey Taylor II both made the cut. Cincinnati’s Michael Warren II, Tulane’s Darius Bradwell and Memphis’ Patrick Taylor were chosen as well.
The American Athletic Conference saw 10 players rush for at least 1,000 yards last season, the most of any conference in the nation. Six of those players return in 2019.
The PwC SMU Athletic Forum Board of Directors will name ten semifinalists in November, and three finalists, as voted on by the Doak Walker Award National Selection Committee, will be announced Nov.
