DALLAS – Tulane’s women’s tennis team overcame a late 3-1 deficit to take a 4-3 win against ECU to cap the first day of competition at the American Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Championship Wednesday on the campus of SMU.
Tulane’s win against ECU was the only victory by a lower-seeded team Wednesday as the No. 9-seeded Green Wave topped the No. 8-seeded Pirates. Earlier in the day, No. 6 Houston, No. 7 Memphis and No. 5 SMU scored convincing wins in their opening-round matches to set the field for Thursday’s quarterfinals.
The American’s women’s championship continues through the April 21 final.
