PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference had three baseball student-athletes earn Academic All-America honors, announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The award recognizes student-athletes from across the nation for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
East Carolina’s Travis Watkins and Tulane’s Hunter Williams were both named First Team Academic All-America. East Carolina’s Charlie Yorgen was named Third Team Academic All-America.
Watkins, a graduate student, boasts a 4.0 GPA in his MBA program at East Carolina. On the field, Watkins led the Pirates with 84 hits and 49 RBIs and finished tied for the team lead with 10 home runs.
