LAKEWOOD RANCH, Florida – No. 2 seed South Florida defeated No. 7 seed North Texas, 1-0, on an 11th-minute goal by Anna Sutter in the second quarterfinal of the 2024 American Women’s Soccer Championship Monday, November 4 at the Premier Sports Campus in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.
With the win, the Owls (12-5-2) will play the winner of Memphis and Tulsa in the semifinals on Thursday, November 7 at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+. The Blazers fell to 7-5-5 on the season.
Rice scored twice in five minutes to break open the game. In the 71st minute, a Rice cross bounced off Catarina Albuquerque and Allie Love in a scramble in front of the net before Sophie Zhang put the ball in the net to give the Owls the lead.
