MEMPHIS, Tenn.—Second-seeded USF defeated top seed Memphis, 2-0, to win the American Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Championship Sunday (Nov. 10) in Memphis.
The Bulls (14-4-0), who had fallen to the Tigers (17-2-1) in the 2018 championship game in Tampa, returned the favor in 2019 behind a pair of second-half goals by Evelyne Viens, the conference’s all-time leading scorer.
It is the second American championship for USF after winning its first crown in 2017. It was the Bulls’ fifth appearance in the league’s title match.
After a scoreless first half, Viens pulled the Bulls out in front in the 65th minute off a feed from Aubrey Megrath and struck again less than two minutes later off an assist from Andrea Hauksdottir.
