Memphis Claims American Women’s Tennis Championship With 4-2 Win Against Tulsa

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Leonie Moeller capped a 4-0 week in singles with a straight-set win at the No. 1 position Monday to lead Memphis to a 4-2 win against Tulsa Sunday in the championship final of the American Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Championship at the Leftwich Tennis Center.

Moeller was named as the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player after she was first to finish Sunday with a 6-3, 6-4 win against Tulsa’s Maria Berlanga Bandera, who is ranked No. 86 by the ITA.

The No. 6-seeded Tigers (10-13), who entered the tournament with a 6-13 record against a daunting schedule, strung together their fourth straight win to claim their second American Athletic Conference title (2022) and gain an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
