Mark Berman of Fox 26 and Joseph Duarte of the Houston Chronicle both reported on Allen's plan to join the Cougars.
After playing for two years at Texas A&M, Allen announced on Twitter that he was leaving the program to explore new opportunities:

Speaking in-depth about his transfer, Allen told Bruce Feldman of FoxSports.com that he wanted to transfer to a Power Five conference school that "would have a QB who will be a senior in 2016 so he'd be able to compete for an open job in 2017 when he becomes eligible.
